Women are essential
commodity in cinemas . Excluding the role of a female lead, we always need
to notice the way her role is taken. A day was there, where the films hit
the screen when it has a first rate script. Now its totally, obverse , if there
is no good script, they have got up with some tawdry bonzer to make a hit. .
The most neoteric craze are "stalking" followed by "sayings about girls".
These two motifs would always be the hit scenes in a movie.
Stalking, the all time job of a boy chasing a
girl to love him. This has always lead to vulnerable consequences in real
life. Movie should stop promoting such scenes in the films which
unconsciously inflict the teenage boys to do the same, thinking it [stalking]
to be an heroic act.. Is
stalking really an heroic act? Mostly Dhanush , a Tamil star who has
taken masters in stalking have given most of his hits by promoting stalking
scenes in his movies. They are as follows; movies like Three,
Padikathavan, Thiruvillayadal Arambam ,Polladhavan etc. Apart
from him , there are certain other films which proselytize this stalking
,which has to be put an end. This stalking is, which has lead to most of
the sad social consequences. The Nungambakkam incident., the
incident which happened in Colombo`s Wattala, acid
attacks on teenage girls etc., are the aftermath of
this stalking.
Movies are not only for entertainment but they do have social
contribution in our society. Being the members of the society, even actors
and actresses are accountable to the society. Its not frenzied way of
approaching an issue but a pale move with a request not to promote these
scenes. in the movies.
Since this is uttered in second, its not a
subordinate motif. It again stands as a blockade for our fly. These are
actually some mottos and catchphrases printed on
women in general which usually starts with "Dude, these girls are always...". Its not wrong to criticize the character lead of the movie because
that may be her trait but why to mention it in a generalized way
overlaying all the women. This is done to grab the applause of
teenage boys and adults. Since to get the film a hit certificate from the
audience, fostering such verses is not a good move.
A hero
says " Its not easy to control women but very much easy to
confuse them." What a cheap idea on women, Are we out of our
stability to get confused ? or Are we wild to be uncontrolled ? And other
scene which had captured the claps in this movie is where the hero
says to his mother "Mom , everything is
adulterated.., only thing which is pure in this world is men`s heart.." This again ranks their own air down. .All
these which I mentioned are from the movie which hit the screen a month ago
titled "Remo" starring Sivakarthikeyan being the hero
verbalizing everything which I stated. This movie also stands as an example to
support my former motif namely stalking. In this movie, Sivakarthikeyan, the protagonist
stalks the heroine who is already engaged with another guy.
The movie also has a song which has again captured a mass ,"Senjitaley" where the
lyrics goes like this, "I don't want to you
in ease, I don`t need the love which I get out of stalking and following ". Criticizing, everything is not at all our
objective, but do stop framing such lyrics. I know even girls
are fascinated by these songs and scenes, Question can be raised what
bothers me.. ? As a girl I expect my respect
and safety in every field , so do raise for the safety of
women in. whole .
The leftover is the smashing trend
again nowadays in Tamil Cinemas, "Love Failure song". In these sort of songs, is where they frankly subjugate
women in their own way, not just by humiliating their girl but
generalizing women, having a bottle in their hand. Movies promoting such scenes
has lead audience to think, that if its love failure its unwritten
law to fall into liquor drinking. The scenes which are shooted just for a
moment entertainment has a big impact. Audiences are not to be blamed because,
we are after all human beings, we do like to be real heroes like, by
following a girl the same way as the hero did. But now the issue
as grown to such enormous, seeking the support of the audiences also to stop
fostering such scenes being screened.
. Women
have just started to rise , why to be an impediment for your own counter
gender?
All these have been latter day trends . Star Rajinikanth is now a Super
Star not because he stalked girls in his movies, Dr Kamal
Hassan has became Ullaga Nayagan not because
he made catchphrases about women in his movies, Actor Vijay became Illaya
Thalapathi not because he lowered the dignity of women in any. All these
stars are still maintaining their career because of focusing on their
determination, work and style and not because of other stuffs. Tamil
movies like Visaranai, Baahubali, Saivam, Kuttram Kadithal etc., have gained a National Award not because of
screening a love failure song. There are many ways
to make a movie blockbuster.
To be mentioned, I too love all the movies I stated and I am a big
fan of Dhanush and Sivakarthikeyan..., but viewing in a deep sense , I think there needs a molding .
I also request the current and upcoming directors to take our
motifs into account.
I
have posed a sturdy argument , anticipating for a cool tweak.
Movies are to entertain people and educate a subject.
From my side, in addition to.., movies have an objective to raise
awareness about an issue BUT NEVER ALLOW THE " MOVIE" TO BE AN ISSUE.....

Yeah.. You are right.People come to the conclusion that women are always like this only. This is mainly because of movies!! Movies moulding the people's mind.Being a woman is a terribly difficult trade since it consists principally of dealings with men! Above all be the Heroine of men's life not the victim.

ReplyDeleteI WELCOME YOUR THOUGHTFULNESS NIVE.....YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY RIGHT IN ADDRESSING TODAY'S IMPACT OF MOVIES TOWARDS SOCIETY....I GO WITH YOUR POINT DEAR,MOVIES ARE THE MAIN CRITERIA WHICH MAKES A BAD IMPRESSION ON WOMEN ESPECIALLY TEENAGERS... TODAY, MOVIES ARE CONSIDERED AS CURSE AND ALSO TO BE THE WORST PART OF WOMEN'S LIFE IN WHICH IT KINDLES THE SMALL YOUNGSTERS HEART MAINLY GIRLS WHERE MOVIES PRONE TO DESTROY THEIR LIFE. KEEP GOING.....
ReplyDeleteTHANK YOU SATHYA!!!
DeleteYou are correct nive, I agree with your thoughts. Such scenes involving stalking should be prohibited.

ReplyDeleteFirst,I would like to appreciate your efforts to slide off the curtains put on by the movie makers to give a blockbuster movie. Whatever you said is phenomenally true and nothing to object. Human beings are social animals and so the society, culture, friends, family, books, etc plays an important role in putting the pieces of man together. And so its unfair to blame people for their deeds. Because they are enforced with the stereotypical view of few people and eventually they get preoccupied and choose the pavement of prejudice. All the views of womens shown in the movie is actually a single person's soul opinion which might b the director's and that too it is for that specific character -this is all what the youth has to understand . Enforcement and preoccupation is the main cause of these problems I guess..And as far as the movies are concerned , there is nothing wrong in potraiting a character but the way matters... the best line that could b stated " You have got all your rights, but your rights are limited by others ". Stop enforcing and stop getting preoccupied
ReplyDeleteCorrect Nive... the ones who work for any product that is entitled to a public opinion should be socially responsible and accountable. They creat a very direct and immedeate impact on our society.
